30 things to do before I turn 30

(Photo location: John Lennon’s Wall, Prague)

So, a few weeks ago now I turned 25. 25 is one of those ages that doesn’t really mean much, the best thing about it is your wage normally goes up for the last time, other than that it’s not particularly special. So while on our little adventure to Prague for my birthday, I decided, with it only being 5 years till I turn the grand old age of 30, that I would create a list of 30 things to do before 30.

I have made these pretty realistic, as it would be great if I could achieve them all, and with most things there is a cost joined to them all. And I don’t plan on entering my 30s absolutely broke. However some of them are things that I would cross of my lifetime bucket list

My main plan for the next 5 years is to have an absolute ball, do everything I would like to do and make as many memories as possible. If anyone has any ideas to help me through the list then please message me personally!

So this is the list I’ve put together:

  1. Visit at least 3 European cities . So far I already have a trip to Budapest booked for 2018 so there is one in the pipeline, I’ve also got a few other ideas of where I would like to travel to such a Barcelona, Venice or Krakow.
  2. Visit New York. This is one that will depend completely on our finances and whether we can afford it.
  3. Visit Cuba & Mexico.  This is our dream holiday and something we’ve talked about since we met, hopefully this will happen for our 10 year anniversary, 2021.
  4. Go on the London Eye. I love London, especially sightseeing but every time I’ve been I’ve never had the chance to go on the London Eye.
  5. See the Northern Lights. This would be a tick off my lifetime bucket list aswell as my before 30, I can’t imagine anything more beautiful to watch.
  6. Hit 4 stone weightloss. Currently I’m sat at 3.5 stone weightloss as you can read in my transformation story , so I feel like this is quite achievable. ✔️
  7. Qualify as a Dispensing Optician. This is the next stage in my career path and it’s where I would like to be in the next 3 years.
  8. Try Snowboarding. I’m already a skier, but I’ve never had the courage to try snowboarding but it’s definitely something I’ve fancied trying.
  9. Attend a Sushi making class. I’m obsessed with sushi, I love it, so would be really interested in learning how to make it.
  10. Climb Ben Nevis, if I’ve climbed Kilimanjaro surely this can’t be that difficult?
  11. Climb Snowdon, same as above.
  12. Complete the Great North Run again, I complete the GNR 2 years ago and I plan to complete it again in 2018.
  13. Complete a Marathon, I’ve said for a lot of years that I would like to run a marathon for my 30th Birthday. Let’s start training ey.
  14. Go on a UK road trip, I have friends all over the country so this would be a great opportunity to catch up with them.
  15. Collect travel tickets for all holidays over the next 5 years, this is something I wish I started years ago.
  16. Take a cocktail making class, why not? I love a good cocktail.
  17. Take a spontaneous trip with only 24 hours planning time. This will be so much fun, and I already know who I can rely on to come with me.
  18. Attend a festival each year. I’m hoping to try a variety of different festivals over the years, maybe some smaller ones than normal.
  19. Keep a journal , this will be difficult for me because I struggle to update social media regularly never mind write things down.
  20. Improve my photography skills. I’ve been looking at courses to help improve my skills, but I know so many different photographers maybe they could help me?
  21. Give something up for 30 days. Maybe social media? Or Nutella? Any ideas?✔️
  22. Get a new tattoo. Something I’ve wanted to do for a while now, I would love to get one related to my trip up Kilimanjaro.
  23. Raise atleast £300 for charity, I hope to raise this in memory of my work colleague. ✔️
  24. Visit a UK theme park. Believe it or not I’ve only ever been to light water valley, I’ve never visited Alton towers, Thorpe Park or flamingo land so one of those would be great,
  25. Buy a house. This is the next step in my relationship and something we’ve been thinking about for awhile.
  26. Go Camping in the wilderness. A few days in a field with no electricity, how hard can it be??
  27. Treat myself to a luxurious item, I’m not sure what this will be but why not treat myself with my hard earned money? ✔️
  28. Visit a Yoga Retreat, this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, maybe it’ll teach me how to relax?
  29. Save money on a monthly basis, this will be the hardest one for me.
  30. Write a list of 40 things to do before 40
So as you can see from the list, 90% of these should be realistically achievable and 10% can be achieved but all depending on finances and fitness. However I’m going to try my best to achieve 100%, what would be the point in doing this if it wasn’t my aim to complete them all.

I’m going to update the list on a 6 monthly basis so that you can see how well I’m making my way through it, meanwhile I’ll also be sharing updates over on my Instagram so make sure you keep up to date with my recent posts.

Like I said previously if anyone can help me with any of these or would like to do any of them with me then please message me personally, I could always do with the help and company.

You will notice on my list I haven’t included anything blog related, and that’s simply because I want these to be life achievements rather than blog achievements. I hope to still be writing my blog when I’m 30, but if I’m not, I will still be making my way through this list.

I’m really looking forward to turning 30 and being able to look back on all the memories that I have created, and of course sharing them with you all.

Here’s to the next 5 years.

Thank you for reading.
