Detangle with my Tangle Teezer Review

"I'm just finishing my hair!!" 
is a common phrase used in our house, normally I'm already running half an hour late, I've just jumped out the shower and my hair looks like I've been dragged through a bush backwards. Trying to tame it before I start drying it can be an absolute nightmare, you name a product and I've more than likely already tried it. I've used serums, oils, mouses, sprays, the lot, some work to get the knots out but then after drying, my hair is just left greesy and flat to my head. And that's not the look I tend to go for. In all honestly I would rather not put any products on my hair, I like to leave it produces its own oils without me clogging up my hair follicles. Which is probably why I was over the moon when I received my tangle teezer blow dry brush. 
        

This wasn't the first
 time I had used a tangle teezer products, I used to own one of the original hand held tangle teezers, and it was pretty good to be honest, it just used to fly out my hand quite often if I brushed too heavily. A reason why I like the blow dry brush so much, is that it has a handle so I can get the perfect grip when I'm trying to detangle my hair. I actually can't explain how good this product actually is, I've used it every day since I received it and I really don't want to have to revert back to a normal hair brush. My hair always looks so much better now I don't have to battle out the knots and tangles.


  
Whether your hair is wet or dry, the tangle teezer glides through getting rid of all cotters and knots. The brush has fixed base teeth with built in tension and slight flexibility at the tips, the teeth allow the hair to snake through, for a quick, smooth and gentle blow dry. Very rarely does the brush cause the hair to snap or stretch, making it a much more comfortable experience. I use it straight out of the shower, as well as when Blow drying and styling, I just love how easily it detangles my hair.


  


To say I've only tried two products from the website and have completely fallen in love with them says something, but there is such a wide range of brushes you can choose from it makes it difficult to decide where to start. I personally think the next brush I'm going to purchase will be the finishing brush in pink, it'll look great with the rest of my collection and think it would help when I'm putting my hair up or straightening it and leaving it down to give my hair a smooth sleek finish.


  



However there really is a brush for everyone, I mean the magic flower brush created for kids is just brilliant. I couldn't think of a better way to get little girls to start brushing their hair, I really like that you can personalise the brush to each individual child by adding a photo of them to the brush. Such a great idea!


  



And for those who regularly go the gym and are rushing about in the shower between work and home, or those who enjoy swimming or holidays by the pool, the Aqua Splash brush would be great. This allows you to get knot free hair while still in the shower, meaning you can easily jump out the shower and allow your hair to dry naturally without any knots or tangles. Such a great purchase if your always on the go.

14 Day Weight Loss with Nutribuddy - First Impressions

 

 

 

Yesterday I was lucky enough to receive the 14 day weight loss kit from Nutribuddy, I have decided to use this kit to help lose the last few pounds that seem to be sitting on my waistline. Healthy eating out in Newcastle

 


 

So Christmas is over, the January diet has begun, and by now your probably sick of the sight of soups and salads. Believe it or not it's now possible to eat healthy in January alongside socialising with friends. Would you believe it? It's well known that when the January cut down begins, you ban yourself from leaving the house incase your tempted by something naughty, which normally means ignoring your friends messages when they invite you out. Well not anymore. If your from the North East you may know that Eldon Square has now opened Greys Quarter, a new food hall filled with so many lovely new restaurants, a few I'm yet to visit. You've got the likes of Giraffe, Chaophraya, George's Kitchen, Smash burger and a handful more. The thought of visiting these makes my stomach rumble, and now even more so, now that I've found out a lot of the restaurants are offering healthier options on their menus. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Last week I found myself at Giraffe alongside a few of my fellow NEbloggers, this is the first time I've seen them since we departed before Christmas so it was a great opportunity to catch up and find out what's on the agenda for the next few months. In Giraffe we were greeted by the lovely Sophie  the Digital Marketing Co-ordinator of Eldon Square, Sophie had put together this evening for us to show that it is possible to eat out while sticking to your healthy eating regime. So we kicked it off in Giraffe with a smoothie & mocktail masterclass, and of course I was well up for giving it a try myself. You could find me behind the bar whizzing up a Giddy Giraffe and an Eldeflower Collins, both turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. A few of the other girls got behind the bar and made up some of the other options on the menu, it was nice to see so many fresh ingredients being used. It makes you think you can drink all these fruity refreshing drinks alongside a meal without getting that dreaded thick head the day after, I don't think this will be the last time I substitute a cocktail for a mocktail. 

 

 

 


After our masterclass we got split up into pairs, ourselves and the guest we invited along, in this case tonight Kayleigh was my date. We were then given a restaurant within Greys Quarter to visit, and ours ended up being Crepe Affaire. I was particularly happy with this choice as it's somewhere I've never been before, and who doesn't love Crepes? However I normally love mine layered up with Nutella, so finding a healthier choice may be quite difficult right? Wrong! Choosing something healthier was actually very easy, the Crepes started at 400 calories with a gradual increase depending on which topping you choose. I went for the Pesto, Mozzerella with Chicken, thinking about this option I actually went with something quite balanced in regards to carbs, protein & fats, it was an all round good option. Everyone always thinks Crepes should be sweet however a savoury option is often just as scrummy. The mix of pesto, chicken, spinach and mozzarella went really well together, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Kayleigh had gone for the supreme crepe, filled with plain chicken, mushrooms and peppers, again a very balanced option and equally as tasty as mine. We both commented on how shocked we were at how good they tasted and the size was enough to fill you as a main meal, they make not look it but once you cut inside the Crepes are stuffed full of filling.


 

 

 

 



We decided to wash our Crepes down with a couple of smoothies, Sam was the assistant that looked after us and she recommended a Kale smoothie and the Pash 'n' Shoot. I went for the Pash 'n' Shoot, and was again overly surprised at how scrummy it was. It definitely made me feel happy that I had enjoyed a healthier choice meal and still been able to enjoy meal and catch up with a friend. 

 

 

 

Then, tables turned a little. And myself and Kayleigh may have been a little bit naughty. As we had had such a healthy meal compared to what we normally would, we thought there was no reason why we shouldn't maybe treat ourself to a sweet crepe. After all we'd never visited Crepe Affaire before so it would be wrong to leave without trying something from each menu, surely? On the wall of the restaurant, there was a lovely canvas photo of a Nutella, Strawberry & Banana Crepe that looked mouthwatering, for a laugh I challenged Sam to create me a crepe that looked just like it. So really it was research, not me just being a massive fan of Nutella. Sam took on the challenge and smashed it, she made a very instagrammable dessert that tasted equally as great! And of course it would have been rude for me to have a dessert and Kayleigh to not, so she treat herself to a Nutella Crepe, again it was definitely for research purposes to see where we should visit on Pancake Day. Who are we kidding? We are just massive foodies! 

 

 
The moral of the story is, 
"a balanced diet is a Crepe in each hand"!

Vegan Restaurant Week Newcastle


 


A good friend of mine Emma over at www.cannyfood.co.uk has organised Vegan Restaurant Week in Newcastle from the 23rd to 29th January, only two weeks away. This is a great opportunity for vegans to try out new restaurants, that they may not have known serve up vegan meals. It's also a great chance for those who haven't tried vegan meals and have always been intregued or interested to try it out. I've always questioned veganism, not because I doubt a vegans beliefs, but simply because I've been small minded and enjoy eating meat far too much that I couldn't understand why someone wouldn't eat it. It's a regret of mine that I haven't looked into vegan foods before now. I've known Emma for about a year now and I've had some really interesting conversation with her about veganism, the great thing about her is that she doesn't try and ram these things down your throat. She has her own beliefs and opinions and she allows other to have their own. Recently Emma told me to research a little about the benefits of Veganism when it comes to wanting to be healthier, which of course I have done as I love incorporating new things into my health regime. 


 

So these are what I believe to be the top 5 health benefits I have found from my research of vegan diet and lifestyle.

Helps with weightloss.
Cutting out animal products means consuming less food with high levels of saturated fats and cholesterol found in meat and dairy products. By cutting these out of your diet you may find a loss of fat, perfect for this wanting to drop a few pounds after Christmas.

Consume your 5 a day more easily.
By removing meat and dairy products from your diet, you are allowing yourself more room to consumer more fruit and vegetables.  Vegans are known to consume more fruit and veg than those who don't follow a vegan diet. And we know it's vital to consumer 5 a day to help lower our risk of heart disease, we already know by eating 8 portions of fruit and veg a day lowers the risk by 22%.

Your sleep cycle improves. 
Plant-based foods are high in nutrients like magnesium, calcium and vitamin B6, these are known as sleep-inducing nutrients. Following a vegan lifestyle allows you to consume a lot more of these nutrients than you would otherwise. Allowing you to sleep a little better.

Less aches and pains.
For those who train regularly, we know how annoying and frustrating it is when you have those aches and pains that get in the way of your training schedule. Little did I know that meat-based foods are high in inflammatory agents and are very acidic, which certainly don't help towards our aches and pains. Whereas plant-based foods are much less, the majority being alkalising. This has definitely got me think about introducing vegan foods into my diet.

Healthier skin, hair and nails.
Introducing more nuts, vitamin A and vitamin E can help improve the appearance of skin, the increased amount of vitamins can also help the growth and condition of hair and nails. 

 


These are only a small percentage of health benefits gained from following a vegan lifestyle, I'm stunned by the information I have gained through my research. I am definitely contemplating introducing a vegan diet at least one day a week to see the effects it has on my body. I think attending the Vegan Restaurant Week is going to help me think up some recipes I can try at home on my vegan days. I am also quite shocked how many restaurants offer vegan options nowadays as previously I've seen a very limited selection on restaurant menus. Head over to

Stir-Fried Brussel Sprouts Recipe

Last year courgetti was the new craze, I even wrote a blogpost about how I make mine here. The great thing with courgetti is that it makes a great substitute for carbohydrates, and if your like myself and hate the effect carbs has on your body, then you are always looking for alternatives. I personally over did it with the courgetti and ate it far to frequently that I then didn't look forward to having it. So over the last couple of months I've been looking out for other alternatives, and over the Christmas period I found an alternative that I have grown to love for one/two months of the year. Stir fried Brussel sprouts, you either love sprouts or you hate them, I'm a lover and this new Recipe has made me like them a whole lot more. So far I've tried these with steak, chicken dishes and mixed into an actual stir fry and each dish ended up tasting pretty good, if I do say so myself.
So let's get to the point, this is actually a super easy and quick recipe, I'd say it will take you 5-10 minutes depending how soft you want your sprouts.

Ingredients per person

1tsp coconut oil 
8-10 Brussel sprouts
1 cloves of garlic crushed
1 small piece of ginger grated
1/4 of a red chilled deseeded and chopped
50ml of water

Method
So in these photos I made enough for two portions, as part of my meal planning.

 

 

Peel the sprouts and chop off the ends.

 

Slice into 0.5cm slices.

 

Heat the coconut oil in a pan, and add garlic, ginger and chilli in a pan for 1 minute.

 

Add the sprouts to the pan with the allocated water. The water will steam the sprouts slightly making them a little bit more softer.

 

As the water boils off the sprouts will then begin to stir fry.

 

It's up to you when you want to take them out of the pan, id say after roughly 5 minutes then they will still have a slight crunch to them.

 

Plate up with your favourite dish.
