I will start off by saying that I am not religious in the slightest, therefore me giving something up for Lent is for my own benefit rather that anything else. Last year I gave up chocolate for Lent and felt so much better for it, this year i'm going to give up Chocolate and Cake, simply because they have got way too involved in my diet recently and I feel by cutting them out I will be able to get back on track. I am a massive fan of flexible dieting, however I do feel you can still control what you eat to a certain degree.

Whenever I feel abit rubbish, whether it be full of cold, stressed out or a little emotional, I always head for Chocolate or Cake, or even better Chocolate Cake. My biggest downfall is Nutella, I have been found on numerous occasions digging into a jar with a spoon, or dipping pieces of fruit in it, almost as if that's the healthier option. These are my comfort foods, however they also leave me feeling a little groggy the next day when I realise I've messed up my macros due to my indulging.

It always good to set yourself a challenge, especially if you've decided to lose weight, this could be the kickstart you need. You can give up one thing or a handful of things, it just depends how much will power you have. If your looking to lose a few pounds why not try cutting out white carbs, alcohol, fast food and takeaways, crisps, sweets or chocolate, these are all things that help us pile on the pounds. You don't have to stop at the 40 days and 40 nights, if you think you can go without them for longer, go for it.

I've hunted around the house and boxed up anything that may be a temptation for me, so lets hope I succeed.

Don't forget to comment below and let me know what you've given up.
